No Names at Fashion Week- She by Sheree

Take a look at what you would have seen had you been to Fashion Week to see She by Sheree designed by ATL's Bitchiest House Wife Sheree Whitfield. I must admit from the RHWOA show a week ago featuring Lisa's line Closet Freak; looks very costume like, un-styled and not wearable comparable to Sheree's.

Closet Freak may need to go back to the drawing closet because Ms. Whitfield is giving the freaks a run for their money.

Here is a bit of a critic, I hope she didn't send model's down the runway in a 2-piece velor sweat suit like she did in her ATL runway show. That's something that is a novelty item and everyone has them no one wants to see them in a runway show.

I would describe her line as a 2-way street from the office to party. I can see the Fashionistas in ATL to DMV wearing these pieces.

From the looks of the Fashion week photos looks like it was not a runway show but a showing of the garments, sort of what she meant to have happen last year. Hand clap for her she has gone through a lot and come a long way! She wont let the hate or haters stop her do your thing honey they never thought you would make it!

I'm a super Bey Fan, she is a fashion powerhouse among all the other things she is, I loved Loved loved her red short dress ( who was it by? ) the hair was a bit un-done but maybe that was the look she was going for. I personally would have loved to see a sleek ponytail embellished with a killer hair pin, with some sparkle, but thats me and my take.

Beyonce is a classy bitch so gracious, so homegrown and down to earth, I mean like she really need to give her 80th acceptance speech. All over the blogs, face book and twitter some Bey Haters are throwing shade and saying she was put up to it like she needs anymore shine honey ? I'm a thick girl not too big not too small, I'm curvy and everything that is voluptuous speaks to me as fire hot, sensual and sexy. So when I see really skinny frail looking chicks it some what disgusts me. I'm no hater of the thin, and slim kind of woman I just feel the need to feed theses chicks, truth be told they eat way more than I do. This leads me to my love & hate affair with soon to be legendary Iman Chanel. She's a bit bobbled headish ( yes I made that word up say something!), sunken in the face and looks like the Big Bad Wolf could huff and puff once and blow her ass away and that bothers me she doesn't look womanly to me A woman in MY OPINION has curves for days, hips that bear children and breast that can feed the whole block of new borns, round lushes lips and cheek bones atop a smile that makes the pain go away... she done have not on of those qualities!

But I also understand the business of being a (High) Fashion Model, you must be sample size either the infamous 0 or a size 2-4 5'11"-6'0" tall, not a lot of booty and a nice small supple rack that doesn't pop out inadvertently. Now in the Fashion wold she as it all everything she has they are looking for. This chick is Fierce on the runway and in print I love her gestures, he curves that show every inches of the fabric draped on her skinny ass arms, her face is make up ready at all time s in and out of make up she is a doll, and she can "Smile with her Eyes" for days. This weekend Saturday,July 25, 2009 a major must attend event is happening once again Fashionista Flea Market! This event is jam packed with the cities hottest jewelry, purses and clothes. Having covered this event 2 months ago I will be attending once again because I know I will find beautiful must- haves to show off.

With prices ranging from $1.00 and up you cant miss it becuase there is no place like it.

You won’t have to worry about the quality of your purchase or finding what your like here; even the hand crafted bags were fab on my last visit.

I was there in a professional capacity but I was over taken by the beautiful jewelry, and clothing that I had to make a run to the bank. I purchased 4 items from various vendors coming to a grand total of $20.00 a steal! For the items I purchased were well worth twenty dollars individually in my opinion.

Does your job have a dress code? Are the folk on your job obeying the Dress Code? Do you obey the Dress Code? Having recently rejoined the work force here in Washington, D.C. Once again I have spot numerous offenders of the the Wear to Work Policy. Why are we coming to work dress as if we are going to the cook out or the latest hot spot club. Four inch heels, sundresses, tank tops, tube tops, muscle shirts (men are offenders too) the list goes on and on. This article is not to point the finger and say shame shame to anyone only to ask. Do you want to be taken serious? or are you just here to and go home without any thought of advancing your self. Being a fashion design major, fashion journalist and a fashion & style-a-holic I am all for the flashy, unique, original stand out garments. But people seem to not be taking what they wear to work as serious as what they wear to that all important formal event. You wouldn't wear Hot pink pumps, with purple tassels on them paired with a pink tank top to lets' say a Business Casual event or am I talking to those who would?

How do you expect to be taken seriously with the glossiest lips on the face of the planet? Lip gloss needs to be monitored by the Human Resources Department, it's getting out of control. Ok your not a video chick, model, video vixen, video hoe or whatever they like to be called theses days so why are you at work looking as if you just go finished giving services or had the KFC New Grilled Chicken? Nasty

Shorts? Being back in the work force I'm shocked to see the wearing of Shorts ???? Thou I have seen some shorts suits??? which is still up in the air for me I mean you can put a blazer over a tube top dress and it's still a tube top dress with most of your cleavage out, and shorts are just about the same in my book you B-Hind is still out with and so are your thighs !!! And Ladies people at work do not want to see your thighs' TRUST ME those Varicose Veins are not the business and they are not your co workers business.

I'm no prude I dress fly with the best of them but I know when to wear my Michael Antonio Kilda Gold heels, and it's not to work.

Side Story: During a fire drill at my new J-O-B there was a offender of the Too-Tight-Crew sporting some shorts and a wrap top with flip flops on>? uhmmmm. These shorts were so tight it left me wondering how did she get into those things??? It must have been a struggle like David and Goliath Honey cause the seams were about to bust and when she sat down the fat from her thighs rolled up over the end of the pant leg of the shorts... Uhmmm WTH.

Are those leggings? Since when did leggings become a workplace garment not unless your a acrobate or your name is Lil Kim or Kim Kardashian shoud you be wearing leggings a tunic and gladiator sandals to work. Come on now even the Gap has a dress Code how be it bland as hell they still have a standard and leggings are not in it.

And Men..... the muscle shirts with suite jackets are not a good look we can see your nipples cause you know it's about 50 degrees inside the building, and the pointy toe shoes I don't know who said these shoes were hot for men to wear, please stop it you look ridiculous and sissy like even, even if you are a sissy it's ugly and stop rocking them with jeans and a all too dayum colorful shirt! Uhgg

Your going to work and if you are going to the Happy Hour event after work bring a change of clothes so that you can change at 4:30.

Sorry to say this and this might piss some of you off but Most of these offenders are GOVERNMENT WORKS!!!! I guess they don't have to abide by any dress code rules and it is Blatantly obvious who works for the Federal Government and Who doesn't when you get on the train in the morning. Most of you look a HOT MESS.

As a representative of your company, firm, department even though we know you do not eat sleep and breath this job atleast look like you want to keep it. When have you seen Betty "With her Boobs Out"Johnson get a promotion? While Shamika "Casual" Thompson who dresses like she cares at least 2 cents about her job see her bumped to the front office.

I recently (Today) walked into this store called LUSH ... And I fell in love with just about everything that was there , so many smells. A scent-sory overload, I'm sure many of you have heard of or are loyal customers of this company and it's Product line! They have bath bombs, Shower Bombs, and much more.

The manager at the Montgomery Mall store was all to pleasing to me, she demonstrated just about any and everything I asked about. She also recommended just about everything I purchased. I think I have found a new place to shop for some of my bath and body needs. There are shops in our area. I'm really in tune with their save the planet attitude and Au natural motto. The sun has started to peek out and Gap has responded by launching its first full beachwear range. Created by Mireille Gindrey, recently named director of Gapbody, the line combines styles: romantic or graphic and colourful, soft and subtle or overt.

Gap Beachwear Summer 2009This is a range big enough to make anyone dizzy. Especially as there are banded, full, triangular and half-cup bikini tops to choose from and mix and match as you like with as many possibilities for the lower half, “classic, lightly pleated or tied at the hip”, noted a spokesperson for Gap.

When I was 13 my mother had me take some head shot's, as we drove to the photographer I was reading my usual Teen Magazine, I was flipping through the pages taking the boyfriend test. And admiring the models and the clothes that they were wearing. I Stopped at the page of a young 16 year LA girl caramel skin, statues, not skinny, not fat or phat for that matter but I saw a boldness in her eyes, something that said I'm here to stay. There are not many models that grace the runway or magazines today that inspire that "Awe" I once saw in Tyra.

She has had many First , the first African-American Women to be on the cover of Sports Illustrated, Victoria's Secret catalog the First African-American. Now with ANTM ( Americas Next Top Model) she has open the door for many other young wide eyed young girls to pursue their dreams of working, living, conquering the industry, in the 20Th Cycle ( I'll be honest I'm not a Reality TV Junkie so I don't watch much of the show but I'm still a Tray Supporter.

Now with her OWN production Company Bankable Productions she comes into our home everyday with her successful talk show 'Tyra'. Her talk show is fun sassy, and extremely informational about body image, relationships, sex, life, and love. She seems to focus on teen girls as her target audience and this formula seems to spell success for the Renaissance Women.

Since the days of Seventeen Magazine Tyra the talk show, she has been a model inspiration not just for me but for many young and older women. Thanks Tyra!

Elle,Cosmopolitan, Harper's Bazaar, Lucky, Vogue, W. Why do we clamor to read their every word? Fashion is a feel good subject , you will either read a magazine and feel like your part of that world or you will seek them out for tips on what's hot and what's not.

Fashion magazines have evolved over the years to be a fixture on every woman's coffee table. The fashion mags of long ago taught women how to dress for every occasion, morning breakfast, diner time, cocktail parties with the husband and dress to go shopping. The modern women of the present time now reads sex tips, kissing tips, man catching advice, man cheating advice and how to dress to impress for it all and all life's other events.

Men even have Mag's now GQ, Maxim, Esquire, Men's Journal, Details and Blender just to name a few. Many of these magazines focus on sex and style for today's modern man. They includes kinds of "Tips" I don't discuss here; because if you have a man you know pretty much what "else"lives between the pages of them.

Magazines such as Essence have opened doors, and knocked down walls for all races shapes and sizes and I admits is just one of my Faves, I was always a Vogue girl from the tender age of 10 cutting up my mothers clothes to create my own. Sure I never saw many the looked like me in between the pages but it was never about the skin color it was the grace of the women, the lay out of the pages, the high fashion world that I always wanted to be part of in some way. And when those skin colors became darker I was even more excited to get my issue of Vogue or Teen Magazine.

Magazines are the bible of Fashion.

I see lots of shorter hems, pale, and dark colors the flapper look is definitely ruling the Paris run way. Question ? Is France in a depression? Is Europe in a depression? Fashion week here in the states was not at all colorless uhmm. I don't believe any of these styles translate well into the modern women of today. Every thou the world may be an economic crisis why further depress us with the Good Ol'e 30's flapper dresses, soup lines, low hems, hats (bad hair days), dark lipstick come on Paris! Wake up and Splash the Color!

In any case I do have an obligation to show the looks. I will also compare them with the US fashion week Check it out....

Eco Fashion is hitting the nations capital in a big way. Not only do we have many Eco friendly trends walking the streets but some of our local designers and renowned institutions are catching the green bug as well. This spring the Cocoran Gallery will be hosting on March 25th a discussion and book signing with Summer Rayne Oakes's a specialist on Eco-Fashion. She will discuss the change many designers and brand name label makers have made to more planet friendly products and materials. Her book is titled "Style, Naturally: The Savvy Shopping Guide to Sustainable Fashion and Beauty". A book signing will follow the discussion.

While shopping the vintage shops in Arlington I came across some posers and phony chic & cheap shops but Gossip On 23Rd is not one of them . Located in Arlington, Virginia on 23rd street of course this little shop has prices that wont have a diva feeling guilty about shopping till she drops. From PJ's to Tunics this shop has great prices and great chic style. For me the dresses have me sold on shopping there for my spring/summer cocktail dresses, amazing dresses for awesome prices. The dresses by Fifth Culture and Glam are my fave.

Designers On The Come UP

This fashion week went down with out a hitch and with some new fresh faces as well. These two designers chose earthy tones and lots of color, even thou some designers opted to use darker colors because of the hard economic times we currently face. Well these sisters sure put the color back into fashion week with their styles that graced the run way this year.

The two new designers that I have had my eye on since fashion week came to an end Koto Momolu; a designer from Bravos Project Runway and Johnny Vincent By. Celeste Johnny.

I love Kotos sense of style and culture in her designs. During the season finale of Project Runway, Koto displayed her collection at New York Fashion Week. Then there is Johnny Vincent By Celeste Johnny never has swimwear stood alone and shinned so brightly and looked so sexy. Her swim collection is now available in 4hot spots from the city to the Caribbean New York, Barbados, Jamaica, and Aruba. I love her swimwear line and it doesn't hurt that she is a fellow Sorority Sister of Alpha Kappa Alpha! I'm a bit biased.

Can you tell where someone resides just by the clothes they wear? Ask a few of your friends and they will give you verbal descriptions of some one who lives on the East Coast, West Coast or Downtown vs. Uptown style. And they just might be right. DC Fashionistas have and unmistakable style. Some say conservative because of the high powered high maintenance jobs they hold, others say preppy with a dash of NY flare for the night on the town scene.

Many don't know this, but DC is not just DC anymore it's Prince Georges County Maryland , Montgomery County Maryland, Northern Virginia all wrapped up in one. The Tri -State Style. Here in the Tri-State we women of the area have many different styles. But I would like to break it down for those who don't know.

The Tri-State women is a serious professional in her skirt suite, hair flowing to her shoulders in braids, extensions, locks and curls wearing toned down make-up, she's not afraid to change into her sultry, sexy evening wear for a night out with the girls or a romantic diner with that man in her life. And she's not bashful if a co-worker or supervisor sees her while she's having a night on the town.
